Investor Abdel Wahab Charif will open a factory for mineral water in Yammouneh, Baalbek. Construction work will be launched this summer and operations will begin early 2018.
The factory will be built on land measuring 20,000 square meters (m2) with a total built-up area of 2,100 m2, and at an altitude of 1,750 meters.
Charif obtained a license from the Ministries of Public Health and Industry to build and operate the factory. He is now in the process of establishing the company.
Investment in the project is estimated at $7 million, some of which is financed thorugh a bank loan.
The machines for the factory will be imported from Europe.
Production capacity will see the bottling of 56,000 liters of water per day. Bottles will be produced in different sizes including 0.33, 0.5, 1.5, and 5 liters.
The company has not yet chosen a brand name for the water.
Charif said that production will be distributed in all regions locally.
“We are relying on the quality of Yammouneh’s water to compete with other water brands in the market,” he said.
Part of the production will be also exported to Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
